WHO ARE WE ?

We are Sultan Qaboos University biology course students who aims to find an environmental and better way to make leather out of natural substances rather than using animal leathers. In this website you can find the details of our project and the process of how to make leather out of bio-friendly materials.

What is bio-leather ?

The word Bio does not have a clear definition. It generally describes a green ideal of a product that is made in as environmentally-friendly way as possible does not harm the consumer and can be disposed of without damaging the environment. Thus, bio-leather means an environmental alternative for animal leather that isn't made out of the skins of animals, and instead it uses natural materials with very less plastic used.

Why bio-leather ?

Bio leather has many advantages than disadvantages, which makes it a better alternative for animal-leather, and below we mention some of them:

1. Animal friendly : no animals are harmed in the production of bio-leather

2. cheaper than animal leather: because bio leather is made out of recycling fruit waste or from sustainable materials that are easy to find

3. Enviromental friendly : Bio-leather can decompose after a while without contamining the enviroment. In addition toxic substances that are used in coloring and tanning animal leather aren't used in the production of bio-leather.
